Neil Howe to Debate “Dumbest Generation” Author Mark Bauerlein at the American Enterprise Institute
LifeCourse President Neil Howe will debate Mark Bauerlein on September 29th about the Millennial Generation, how new technologies have impacted their learning and achievement, and what this means for today’s schools. Howe will challenge Bauerlein’s position in his recent book, The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future, that video games, the Internet, and other digital technologies have eroded young people's essential knowledge and skills. In fact, argues Howe, data show that this rising youth generation is smart and engaged, from record competitiveness for admission to top colleges to surging political participation. Howe is the best-selling author of numerous books on Millennials, including Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation
The debate will be held at the American Enterprise Institute and will be moderated by Frederick M. Hess, AEI’s director of education policy studies. We invite you to register for this exciting event.
