Rick Delano, Senior Advisor
Rick Delano is senior advisor to LifeCourse Associates, a company he helped establish in 1997 with authors William Strauss and Neil Howe. He specializes in applying the Strauss-Howe generational theory to K-12 schools, workforce development, and social marketing.
Rick is also president of Social Marketing Services. (Social marketers apply commercial marketing strategies, often on behalf of public agencies, to reduce undesirable behaviors like smoking or dropping out of school). Rick currently leads the Ford Motor Company Fund’s Next Generation Learning national advisory council, whose work focuses on redesigning high schools.
Rick is a thirty-year veteran in the magazine publishing industry. He managed custom publishing for Scholastic, Inc., in New York City, consulted on new business development for Hearst magazines, and managed business development for Time and Scientific American. He served as both an enlisted recruit and an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972. He graduated from College of the Desert Community College in 1972 and from San Jose State University in 1974. Rick lives in Bridgehampton, New York.
